Inspired by a common passion for contemporary art, the BMW Art Guide by Independent Collectors was born in 2012 as a specialty reference on high-end collecting. Since then, this publication has assembled a series of succinct portraits of the most important private collections of contemporary art settled in more than 180 cities. Now, Adrastus Collection is being featured in the initial page of the online edition of this platform presenting the museographic project that is currently under development in Arévalo, Spain.
The pen of William Kherbek –writer and journalist from a number of publications in the UK, US, Germany, Switzerland and Romania– has poetically captured the soul and essence of this endeavor of a lifetime: “The undertaking is daunting; the ruined walls and collapsed rooftops of the old buildings will require more than a few panes of glass and a bit of tiling to make them ready for a global audience, but when work is complete, one of the most robustly contemporary collections of its size in Spain will, at last, have a means of reaching out in a more sustained way to the people of Arévalo and the world.”
Furthermore, this publication captures this site’s historical richness and the echoing effect that this will have over the first museum specialized in the 21st century: “Such a rich cultural and intellectual lineage will dovetail with other engagement projects the Adrastus Collection is planning, including an ambitious educational, residence, and conference programme that will integrate the collection, the space, and aspects and historical context provided by Arévalo into a multifaceted creative atmosphere.”
