Enjoying the summer and looking forward to the new school year...

Like many of our families, we look forward to the summer break! This school holiday we're running our first ever summer forest school along with Sundowns. Read about how our settling-in day went below.

We've been busy putting plans in place for September by welcoming a record number of delegates on our learning profile course, recruiting our new national lottery funded education advocate Julia and planning a new calendar of family peer support events.

We wish all the best of luck and future success to the many children we know moving up to nursery, big school, high school and beyond.

JULY UPDATE

OUR FOREST SCHOOL PROJECT GETS OFF TO A GREAT START...

There were smiles all around at our forest school family BBQ and settling in day at Petty Pool college. The project has been funded by a generous donation from the Williams Family Foundation and run alongside Sundowns group.

Children were able to check out the facilities and make new friends as well as carry out a crate challenge and take on the climbing wall. There were some very brave adventurers in the gang! We can't wait for the day sessions in August and residential in October.

WE WELCOME NEW EDUCATION ADVOCATE JULIA

We're pleased and excited to welcome our new education advocate Julia to the team. Julia will be supporting children, parents, carers and school staff across East Cheshire from September. Her position has been funded for five years by the National Lottery Community Fund.

Julia will join our education advocate for West Cheshire Sandy, whose position is funded by the Steve Morgan Foundation, for three years and the National Lottery Community fund for two years. If anyone would like to contact Julia or Sandy please email schools@cdssgroup.org.uk.

But despite living his whole life in the Arctic, he may have to leave to finish his education as there is no programme in place for people with Down's syndrome. (BBC News)
