Dear friends,
As my husband and I reach out to perfect strangers in an effort to build bridges, I am deeply moved by your gracious hospitality in opening your homes, welcoming us, housing us, hosting us, and accepting us as your friends.

Make A Muslim Friend 'Start Up'

When asked at a book reading, 'How can we help Muslims?" I answered: "Make a Muslim friend. Invite us into your homes. We will do the same." Charlene Floyd lined up 11 Christian families to host Muslim families in their homes for dinner.

The first of many dinner evenings of 'Make a Muslim Friend'. Families got together every weekend in March, dined, traded stories, and made friends. Now, its our turn to reciprocate.
Just watch the magic work!

Invite Us & We Shall Come

...and give a talk on Islam 101
No sooner had we sent the email to our network - nationally - the invitations started coming. People we didn't know, invited us, and this month, Khalid and I took our show on the road.

"What is the day-in-the-life of a Muslim who observes the 5 tenets, i.e. belief, prayer, fasting, charity, & pilgrimage?" This is the first time we were asked this question. Our talk: The Quran, Family, Women, Shia-Sunni, & Shariah.

A beautiful couple, whom we had never met & who had attended our talk at Chautauqua Institution, invited us, housed us in their home, introduced us to new friends, and organized an event of an audience of 100 on a conversation on Islam. I liked the  question: What can we do to prevent radicalization amongst the youth? The take-away: We need to address bullying of children in schools. It leads to isolation, making youth vulnerable to radicalization through the internet.

"...Bia has a wonderful, laughter filled voice as a writer...This is a remarkable read written by a remarkable woman that would build bridges where other's would build walls. Bia's words are beautiful and important and the story of her life is one meant to be read by everyone no matter what god you worship or country you call home."
