Team ECM: United We Stand!
What a crazy year and a half it has been!
We've all lived through the many challenges of Covid, some of us through personal encounters and others through the experiences of friends and family.
On the business front, while many in other industries faced devastating losses, the boating industry was blessed beyond measure by phenomenal growth, as Americans sought safe ways to spend time with families in a healthy environment. Boating proved to be the ideal antidote to the Coronavirus; we were the fortunate beneficiaries as we provided opportunities for customers to escape to - and enjoy - the great outdoors.
This year has also dealt us challenges locally with inclement weather and hurricanes, but we've fortunately been spared from any major damages and loss. However, each of these storms has required major effort and hard work from our team here on the ground as we hustled to prepare for any potential impact.
Another nuance of the past few years is the compelling divisiveness of politics and political agendas that drive wedges and creates hard feelings. No matter the party, the talking heads and political parties heat things up daily and stir the pot. It's challenging to dodge the fray and to avoid getting caught up in the quagmire.
Instead of contemplating all the negatives, I choose to adopt a spirit of gratefulness and unity in my everyday life. It begins with a prayer of thanks each morning for all that I have and enjoy. As we approach the holiday season, I hope you'll join me in carefully considering all the many opportunities which we've been given. No matter what challenges you or I may face, I promise you that taking time to ponder our many blessings and the good things in life will allow each of us to focus on the positive despite living in a world that embraces controversy and discord.
In closing, I'm thankful for many wonderful blessings I've been given including my family, friends, the freedoms which are ours including the opportunity to work with a team of awesome people such as yourself. No matter what challenges may come, I hope I can always reflect on the positive things in life which unite and brings us together.
We are stronger … together!
Thank YOU for being an integral part of Team ECM.

Congrats to Kara Travis
Emerald Coast Marine August 2021
EMPLOYEE of the MONTH!
In January, Team ECM announced a new company-wide monthly recognition program to celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of our employees!
DRUM ROLL ... Our winner for the month of August chosen by her peers is Kara Travis, Marina Client Relations, from Niceville!
Kara joined ECM in June of 2020 and has been actively engaged in serving our marina customers since coming aboard. Prior to working with Team ECM, she spent a dozen years working locally in the marine industry.
While Kara has been nominated in the past by several colleagues, her selection this month came on the heels of two active weather conditions where she was directly involved in ongoing communications with our wet and dry slip customers, as well as hurricane plan holders.
"Kara has an outgoing personality and is very much focused on serving the needs of our customers," said ECM President Shawn Talpey. "When we recently had to deal with the pressures of two different storm systems, she was right on top of things to make sure our customers were always kept in the communications loop and up to date with our plans. Many recognized her efforts and willingness to be on call 24/7 as customers had questions and needs."
"I didn't expect this recognition and so it is a really nice surprise when others recognize you for the work you do," said Kara.
When she's not on the job, Kara and her family enjoy the boating life she passionately promotes. She and her husband Justin, along with kids Emma, Olivia and Mason, spend every available weekend relaxing and soaking up the sun aboard their fishing boat.
Congrats Kara! We are very proud of your achievement!
Kara receives:
- $100 Amazon gift card
- Official framed Employee of the Month certificate
- Article spotlight and photo in the employee and consumer newsletter
- Announcement and pix posted on ECM Facebook and Instagram pages
- Photo splashed on our property billboard for a week!
