Last week was a constituency week which gave me an opportunity to attend many events in Saskatoon and meet with many residents as you will see below.
Now I am back in Ottawa taking care of matters here. March 8th is International Women’s Day and I will be paying tribute to two young ladies from Saskatoon who are attending the Equal Voice Canada’s “Daughters of the Vote” forum. Mariah Hillis and Sakeena Akhtar will be joining 336 other young women from across Canada to learn more about women in politics at all levels of government.
My work on the Heritage Committee continues. We have been studying how local communities are informed about local and regional experiences through news, broadcasting, digital and print media and the decline of local news reporting. We will report our findings to Parliament when the report is completed.
Ann Barlas is a well-known volunteer in our community and is the 5th recipient of the Saskatoon-Grasswood Canada 150 Award. Don’t forget there’s lots of time to nominate a deserving constituent. Visit my website to find how.
As always, if you require any help with a federal department or agency please call or drop by the office.

Above Left: Mark Vanstone, from Saskatoon-Grasswood in Ottawa for a visit. It was my pleasure to take Mark and his wife Vanesa on a tour of the Hill.
Above Right: Mark Vanstone, Geoff Regan, Speaker of the House and Vanesa Vanstone in the Speaker's office. We were very fortunate to be able to see the Speakers' office and experience its rich history!

Above Left: I ran into Henry Burris in the airport as he was on his way to Swift Current for a fundraiser. Henry will be in Saskatoon on May 4th, as the guest speaker at the Houghton Boston Dogs' Breakfast XVII. The event is one of the top football fundraisers in Canada that annually generates over $100,000 for football scholarships to the U of S. In total, over $1.4 Million has been rasied since 2001.
Above Right: I joined in the movement on February 23rd for Shine a Light on Slavery Day. A powerful statement condemning human trafficking, a form of modern day slavery. To raise awareness and show support, a red "X" is displayed.
