We are currently in the final days of debate on Budget 2016. What we now know is that the deficit the Liberals promised in their election campaign has already ballooned and that’s before any infrastructure money has been delivered. Not only will they commit Canadians to a $30 Billion shortfall this year, but this plan sets us down the path of more than $150 Billion in deficit spending over the next 5 years. This is not what Canadians voted for.
The previous Conservative Government introduced legislation that mandated balanced budgets be the law. This Government’s revocation of the balanced budget legislation is a betrayal of the middle class, who understand that if we are not willing to control spending, taxes will eventually have to go up to pay for the money borrowed today.
Canadian families are going to be left footing the $30 billion bill for the Liberals` out-of-control spending.
Canada’s Conservatives will demand a real plan to create jobs, fight to keep more money in the pockets of hardworking Canadians, and push the Liberals to live within their means and not borrow billions of dollars the country doesn’t have.
We know the recipe for job creation: low taxes, low red tape, open competition, free trade, successful businesses and responsible spending of taxpayer money. That’s what the government should focus on and we will hold them accountable.
The Parliamentary Calendar is approaching summer recess however; things have not slowed down in Ottawa.
