Introducing: James An
Hey Innisians! My name is James An and I am a third-year student pursuing a double major in Human Biology and Psychology. At Innis, I’m currently running Insight, our undergraduate peer mentorship program. Mentors in Insight are dedicated upper-year students, who help with their mentee’s transition into university! I am also an Environmental Committee Co-Chair for the Innis Residence Council, working with a passionate and driven team to raise environmental awareness in our tight-knit community.
Through monthly initiatives and events, we actively try to reduce our carbon footprint. For example, our annual winter Thermostat Challenge – which promotes responsible use of heating indoors – has led to noticeable reductions in energy use at Innis Residence over the years. When it comes to reducing our impact on the environment, it’s always a collective effort. We all have the responsibility to educate, help and inspire one another.
Reflecting on my years at U of T so far, I am very privileged to be involved with these roles, roles that have given me lasting relationships with my fellow Innis students. If I were to tell the first year me something: find something you love, make friends, and get involved already!

FIRST AID TRAINING
Health and Wellness is once again hosting First Aid Training sessions. Come out and become certified under the Red Cross in Emergency First Aid and CPR-C, valid for 3 years. This is very useful for work and other endeavors (think summer jobs! Dons! Front Desk! Just for fun!)
- 2 one-day (eight-hour) training sessions to choose from: Mar 25 or Mar 26
- $50 fee

These awards encourage and recognize students who use their talents and creative energies to make voluntary contributions to the world around them. Innis College recognizes that its students demonstrate leadership in many contexts, including the College, the University of Toronto, their communities, and their workplace.
There are awards for both returning and graduating students, and there are also awards for students who either currently live or have lived in the Innis College Residence. If you have demonstrated leadership, either inside or outside the University of Toronto, we encourage you to review these awards and consider submitting an application.
