The past several months have seen continued growth and change at the administrative offices of the OIA. As you know, Linda Mascheri retired after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Montreal and we have been working closely with our new support staff to ensure a smooth transition. Chasati Allen and Diana Ewert have taken greater roles in supporting the Board and we have increased the frequency of our conference calls and interactions with the support staff. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we all adjust to the many changes which have occurred since July.
The OIA Board held its biannual meeting in Chicago, Illinois, USA March 7-8, 2016. The primary purpose of the meeting was to strategically focus on the future of the OIA in the international arena. Of course this involved a discussion of the OIA’s values in light of the stewardship role it plays pertaining to osteopathic principles and practice, and how best to position OIA to maintain this stewardship in the future. As part of this, the Board also reviewed the bylaws, policies, mission and vision. The Board is continuing these discussions and will share the results with the membership in the coming weeks. We look forward to feedback from all members and stakeholders prior to the September 2016 Conference and AGM.
The 2016 Conference and AGM will be held in conjunction with the AOA OMED program in Anaheim, California, USA. OIA members attending the Conference and AGM will also be able to attend all OMED exhibits, educational programs and social events. We will send details on registration for the program and accommodations in the very near future. Information regarding nominations to the Board will be sent within the next two weeks.
Regarding 2017, the OIA Board has accepted a proposal from Osteopaths New Zealand (ONZ) to host our 2017 Conference and AGM; September 8-10 at the Sky City Conference Centre, Auckland, New Zealand. Please save this date!
Finally, we are pleased to share that the OIA is a strong and healthy organization that continues to grow; we look forward to your continued involvement and support.
