Dean's Note May 2020
Dear Alumni and Friends,

I hope you continue to be as well as possible during these uncertain times.  Here at UF Law, the spring semester ended with exams administered 100% remotely for the first time in our history.  We also were forced to forego our normal in-person celebrations with graduates and alumni.  But the Gator Law Nation remains strong, and we found other ways to mark the end of the academic year.

We celebrated our graduates in a digital format.  The above video includes celebratory words from faculty, staff, and alumni.  I hope you will take a few minutes to watch the video and otherwise share your best wishes and words of advice.  Our graduates were also surprised with a congratulatory greeting from Joe Scarborough (JD 90)!  You may watch his greeting here.

We also recognized four incredible alumni with annual awards.  We were not able to do this in-person at our usual “Past, Present, and Future” ceremony, but we look forward to presenting these awards at future events.  For now, we are celebrating these alumni on social media.  You may read more about them in the feature below.

We now look to the summer as our students prepare for the bar exam and otherwise transition to externships and summer jobs.  Our career and professional development team is remotely advising and counseling students who may need additional help with placements.  Should you have a need in your office, please email  We would be glad to connect you with one of our very promising rising 2Ls or 3Ls or one of our amazing recent graduates.

We will soon reach out with news about our “virtual” alumni receptions in a city near you.  I hope you will join us!  Until then, I hope all of you remain healthy and well.
