We’ve all faced huge challenges as a result of COVID-19, with the initial lockdown and further local restrictions transforming the ways in which we live and work. However, the continuing pandemic has revealed the extraordinary resilience of our approved centres, with many opening up new opportunities by unlocking the potential of digital and online resources.
Their stories make inspiring reading, and we’d like to thank the following six centres for sharing their experiences. Being responsive to the changing situation and adapting delivery methods can lead to success, and we hope these testimonials give other approved centres encouragement as we all find our way through the pandemic.
We believe we’re all stronger if we share our experiences, and our team is here to give you any support and advice you need. We also have resources available to all our approved centres, and you can read about these below.
Let’s get through this together!
Our eLearning resources give you an alternative delivery option to ensure continuity of learning while your students are based at home. We have refreshed our eLearning pricing structure to give you more value and support than other awarding organisations. We are now offering free eLearning with learner registrations on a broad range of qualifications from Level 2 to Level 4.

During the initial lockdown period, Active IQ converted its range of manuals into user-friendly eManuals, again to ensure continuity of learning and ease of access. Active IQ’s new eManuals feature an easy-to-use page-turning display that allows you to flip pages, skip ahead to any section, or zoom in or out as required. They are fully responsive, and allow you and your learners to access them on desktop, tablet and mobile devices. On mobiles, the layout automatically adjusts from a double-page spread to a single-page view in order to enhance the user experience.

Since the lockdown started we’ve been maximising our social media channels for any marketing. We’ve been able to introduce deals and savings for most of our courses as they are now online.

During this time, our supportive/intensive learning model was born. I’d had this idea of ‘Become a PT in Lockdown’. We built a mini-marketing campaign on this including our 5-week timetable, daily lessons to watch, Active IQ manual pages to read and three weekly live group tutoring sessions via Zoom.

The recent challenges have shown our sector is stronger than we ever imagined. We have united on many fronts and are truly supportive of each other to get through this. Together we will come back stronger! Another positive is that people’s attitude to technology has evolved: it must be good that we are all a little bit more tech-savvy now!

We moved all our learners to eLearning and used Zoom to enable tutor-led delivery. We trained tutors who hadn't used Zoom before to make sure they were confident with the software and hold regular staff meetings, CPD and support sessions with colleagues this way.

I would advise other centres not to panic. Take time to work through your options as a team before planning your best way forward. And allow enough time for staff to learn how to use any new resources before implementing these with learners.

As we as a centre had to adapt and be flexible, learners have also been able to adapt which is pleasing to see. Following our success in this area, we’re now looking to offer more online qualifications in the future: especially those which we delivered and assessed remotely in the immediate reaction to COVID-19.
