As we get closer to the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, anticipation and excitement are building as more and more organizations across the Commonwealth are hosting activities that highlight the indefatigable women - and men - who often risked much to obtain the right to vote for women. “We Did It For You!” Comes to Needham, November 3

“We Did It For You! Women’s Journey Through History” is coming to Needham Town Hall for a special performance on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 3:00 pm. "We Did It For You!" is a powerful musical that tells of the struggles and triumphs women have undergone to get their basic rights in America.

Suffrage 100: Massachusetts Women at the Forefront of Change

Thursday, November 7, 2019, 6:00-7:30pm (Reception at 5:30pm)
Old South Meeting House, 310 Washington Street, Boston

Fredie Kay, Founder and President of Suffrage100MA will provide an overview of the suffrage movement in American history, with special attention to Massachusetts activists who paved the way for women’s suffrage, including African Americans and other marginalized groups. Join us for a reception with light refreshments and a special opportunity to view several of the “Suffragist of the Month“ display panels, created by a partnership of the Commonwealth Museum, Secretary William F. Galvin, and Suffrage100MA. The monthly display panels started in August 2017 and will be created through August 2020, the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. Suffragists from Massachusetts and other parts of the country are featured, as well as panels about historic events, such as “Worcester Takes the Lead.”

This program is made possible with funding from the Lowell Institute. Free and open to the public, registration is requested.

Suffrage Centennial Display Panel Project

Suffragists of the Month - Josephine St. Pierre Ruffin and Maria Louise Baldwin

Suffrage100MA is partnering with the Commonwealth Museum to present “Suffragist of the Month” display panels from August 2017 through August 2020, the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. Currently featured are Josephine St. Pierre Ruffin and Maria Louise Baldwin, Massachusetts African American suffragists, who were fierce advocates for education and equal rights.
