It's been a busy and varied end to 2019 here at Africa Oyé with industry conferences, board game launches and award shows a plenty!

We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who voted for us in both the Liverpool City Region Culture & Creativity Awards and the UK Festival Awards; read on to find out how we did...

What a fantastic night it was at the inaugural Liverpool City Region Culture and Creativity Awards in the beautiful Lady Lever Art Gallery.

We were honoured to win the Impact Award for International Reach as well as the People's Choice Award for Outstanding Contribution to Culture!

We'd like to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who voted for us to win - this means a huge amount to the whole team.

The Africa Oyé Show on Melodic Distraction Radio

Since the 25th Anniversary Festival, Africa Oyé have joined the Melodic Distraction team to produce a monthly radio show, sharing a mixture of music and DJ sessions from the festival, interviews with artists, organisers and more, as well as guest mixes and live sessions along the way.

The Africa Oyé radio show is a reflection on what has been and what’s to come in the future for Africa Oyé.

This month's podcast features music that we discovered at WOMEX, updates on the Liverpool City Region Culture & Creativity Awards and news of some fantastic Oyé merch for Christmas...

Oyé On The Road

Rounding off a busy year of international music industry events and conferences, we were delighted to have representatives from the Africa Oyé team at Mundial Montreal and the Mozambique Music Meeting over the last few weeks.

Known as North America's World Music Summit, Mundial Montréal features a conference, networking events and one-of-a-kind concerts. The gathering shines the spotlight on over 100 talented musicians from every corner of the world, from Canada to Spain to Senegal to Korea.

Mozambique Music Meeting (MMM Festival) is a Festival and a Music Market simultaneously, incorporating other elements of Mozambique culture: it aims to celebrate cultural diversity through music, dance, fine arts, photography, food, and crafts.
Africa Oyé & Kitchen St present Extra Soul Perception

Africa Oyé (Official) & Kitchen Street present the Liverpool debut of Extra Soul Perception, a collaborative project exploring new tangents in soul music with eight innovative artists from the UK, Kenya and Uganda.

Led by an open-minded approach to harmonising different sounds, techniques and traditions, ESP celebrates commonality across borders in the hope of changing perceptions of a long-established genre. Find out more about the project at
