Membership renewal and fees
Don't forget to renew your GSLN membership to continue access to member benefits. Membership lapses within 6 months of June 30th. Since the network has grown, we have found it appropriate to introduce membership fees. It is now $60 to register as a business, $40 as a group, $20 as an individual, or you can join for free as a supporter to receive our network newsletters. You can renew online at
GSLN's website. Thanks again to all of you who have already renewed.
October AGM
This year's AGM will be held mid-October. We are currently looking into the Coal Loader Sustainability Centre at Waverton as venue. This year we will be discussing a draft Strategic Plan for our Network prepared by our 2 LLCs. We are asking members to consider becoming part of GSLN's committee.
Cumberland Plain Landcare Program
We are seeking expressions of interest from members who would like to get involved in a Cumberland Plain Landcare Program offering on-ground conservation support on private land.
  • Do you know of privately owned sites containing Cumberland Plain vegetation that need on-ground support?
  • Do you have a Cumberland Plain site that needs additional on-ground support?
  • Are you part of an organisation that would like to partner in a joint grant application towards this program (e.g. start a Cumberland Plain Landcare Group)?
  • Are you part of group or organisation that could contribute resources (e.g. tools or transport) to this project?
  • Or are you a volunteer skilled in bush regeneration or other techniques (e.g. bird identification, education or flora and fauna monitoring) and would like to be involved?

Are you a farmer in Greater Sydney? Fill out this Big Data in Ag survey
Gina Wood, a PhD researcher at the School of Law in the University of New England, is running a survey “
Big Data in Primary Production - What Do Farmers Know and Not Know, Do and Not Do, Concerning Farm Data in Australia?" to find out what farmers think about Big Data and related technologies. Your answers are vital in helping to determine how Big Data and its associated technologies can be best put to use for the benefit of primary producers in Australia.

Ms Wood will use the survey answers to quantify the level of understanding and use of Big Data in primary production amongst farmers. Participants must be over 18 years old, proficient in written English (no translation is available), and the owner or farm manager of an operation with at least 50% of revenues from primary production in any primary production sector (e.g. not B&B or farm-stay). No understanding of Big Data is necessary to complete the survey. (UNE Ethics Committee Approval #HE16-125, valid to 06/06/2017).
