July was a great month for me, visiting with family and old friends. Rachel Kopel gave me a tip for a cool spot in August and I chose an indoor mall to keep us out of the heat. I hope you can join us!

Meet at the Food Court of the Westfield Mall North County. To find us go to the Cheese Cake Factory entrance. You will be close to the elevator which you can take to the 3rd floor food court. As you exit the elevator turn left most likely I will be at the little tables next to the elevator. Torquise shirt and white shorts.

The USK Symposium will take place from July 26-29, 2017 in Chicago.Our very own Renata Grillo, Taka Kiyoizuma, Rich Watson and Dominique Eichi will be in attendance. Rich will be at Carl Judson's Guerilla Painter booth.
In an effort to be as inclusive as possible there will be volunteers live streaming glimpses of the symposium directly to the USk YouTube channel beginning Wed July 26 at 12:30. Any regional blog member can submit a blog flag.
If you’re interested in submitting a sketch to be considered for the USk blog flag and USk Facebook Page cover photo, please email the following to me at shiho@urbansketchers.org with the subject line: "Flag Material from (your name)":
- the city you live
- location of the sketch/photo (city, country)
- a scan of the sketch high-resolution- A high-resolution photo of you sketching, or a photo of sketchbook page shown next to the background where you're sketching (photos from smartphones are OK as long as they are at least 960 pixels wide) or -name of the USk Chapter, and your website/blog/Flickr site with your location sketches
You can also send me a link to a public Facebook post, Instagram post or Flickr post if you have photos with your sketches are posted there as long as photos/sketches that at least 960 pixels wide are also available to be big enough for the blog flag.
Please note that flags are used on a two-week cycle, so it may be a while before you see your sketch featured.
